Zelda-Like transition (without any engine)


Hi!

Recently I’ve played and finished the original Legend of Zelda from 1987. I fell in love with it, and decided to bring some of its inspiration to Tiny Land.

If you’ve played Tiny Land in the past, you know that transitions between rooms were basically non-existent, the room you moved to basically poped all at once, like so:

The original Legend of Zelda did it better over 30 years ago:

It was a little troublesome to replicate this behaviour with the code I had going on, but I did it!
Also a few more changes:

  • NPCs won’t move anymore if you’re talking to them
  • Top 3 ranking have been temporarily removed
  • The transition animation is a little less performance costy on mobile
